Innovating Automotive Recycling: A Study on the Italian Market.
My research aims to study the dismantling process of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). During the literature review, I found that a diagram is the most effective way to describe the industrial process. However, the issue identified is that no single standardized diagram is universally accepted.
Each company, research document, and EU directive in the sector explains the process from different perspectives, although there are some common steps among the diagrams. This creates a communication gap between policymakers, academics, and industry, which could compromise research continuity and data collection in the sector. For example, the decarbonization phase is also referred to as depollution.
These steps fall within the dismantling phase. Dismantling refers to the overall process composed of several stages. The main objective of this research is to identify, classify, and propose a diagram that could serve as a standardized tool. I will offer a value proposition to the diagram called SELDOM. The main vocabulary used in the ELV Directive 2000/53/EC will strongly influence this tool due to the legal relevance of the standard.
